Manor Physiotherapy integrates extensive clinical experience and ongoing professional learning to provide exceptional patient care.

We take time to communicate with doctors, trainers and teachers and document detailed digital medical records.

Physiotherapy facilitates the recovery process from injury related to trauma or repetitive load or postural faults. Hands on mobilization techniques and specific exercises are combined to treat spinal and limb joints, muscles, nerves and the surrounding supportive fascial network.

Physiotherapy can improve body mechanics and global spinal balance and muscle balance for optimal functioning in daily activities and sports performance.

Motor patterns are learned and programmed from early development and experiences. Sensory input is integral to motor development.

Teaching an understanding of posture and muscle motor control contributes to ones recovery and learning healthy habits.

We aim to teach our patients simple daily exercises that can maintain postural alignment, muscle power and flexibility and thus prevent injury recurrence.

These specific exercises also train neural pathways/wiring from the brain to the body to control complex movement patterns.

Special Interests and Conditions Treated

Posture Analysis and Correction

Scoliosis and Kyphosis Treatment: Using the Schroth method for adolescent and adult spinal deformities.

Orthopaedic Injuries: Rehabilitation for ligament sprains, myofascial strains, fractures, and post-operative recovery to restore joint mobility and stability Temporomandibular joint Conditions tension myalgia and articular conditions

Headaches: Evaluating and treating headache conditions.

Sports related injuries: rehabilitation includes training sport specific movement patterns, proprioceptive and balance training, reaction times and recoil for enhanced performance.

Vestibular Disorders: Treating balance and dizziness issues.

Cardiopulmonary Conditions: Managing COPD, breathing pattern disorders related to postural patterns and inspiratory muscle weakness, chest clearance techniques.

Pelvic Girdle Conditions: bladder and bowel incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic tension myalgia

Gait Analysis: Analyzing and improving gait patterns.

Visceral manipulation: targets adhesions and fascial restrictions in connective tissues that forms peritoneal sac and surrounds organs in abdominal and pelvic cavities and thoracic cage. This treats multiple conditions reflux, bladder prolapse and intestinal spasm.

Soft tissue work decreases muscle tension and improves extensibility.

Michelle Isenberg qualified with B.Sc. Physiotherapy from Wits University in 1990.

She completed a post graduate accreditation in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy in 1994.

She traveled to Barcelona to study a certification course in 3D treatment of scoliosis according to Schroth principles in 2012 - Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School. She is also trained in craniosacral therapy and visceral mobilization. Michelle recently completed a post graduate accreditation in vestibular disorders at UCT.

She is continuously attending professional development workshops to improve skills and learn new techniques.

She hopes to understand the role of early development and mind body connection in postural syndromes, disease and injuries.

She has a passion for movement and posture and follows the World Health Organization ideology that says movement is medicine.

Posture and movement are an integral part of our physical and mental wellbeing. Posture contributes to self image and makes a positive first impression to other people at work and in social situations.

She runs and walks outdoors and practices yoga. Dance and yoga have both contributed to her understanding of movement and posture.
